First of all I want to thank everyone for their
responses to my Illustrator question.
Looks like it there are lot of questions about
Illustrator color management and it might be best to
use something like InDesign instead. Now if I could
only convince our client to do so!!!
I have another related question. I have an untagged
Illustrator file from a client with an embedded image.
I import more (tagged) images into the file and save
as PDFX1a. I proof the PDFX1a on my BestColorProof463
and everything looks fine except the image previously
imbedded in the file. It has banding in a gradation. I
send the same PDFX1a to a printer. They proof it and
everything including the prevoiusly imbeded image
looks fine. All the tagged images look very much the
same in both proofs though.
Can anybody explain the difference between the two
proofs?
My guess is that the file goes through some kind of
conversion at the printer before it gets proofed.
I cross posted the same question on Best forum but no
responses yet.
I appreciate any feedback.
Faro
