keep one thing in mind, though, lee-
the shadow density of the ultrachrome inks is less than stellar, at
least with photo black. as an example, With Best ColorProof, using
Epson's SemiMatte Proofong stock, or Best's version of the same, i've
stuggled to get the shadow dark enough to accurately proof an offset
shadow point, let alone the stuff that *i* need to proof. i've heard
people claim that matte black is better on certain medias, but i
haven't yet seen an ink/media combo that backs up that claim in our
shop.
When I compare the profile that I've created with the Matte Black ink
set with the profile I got from the Photo black in ColorThink, the
Maximum black is L=8 with Matte black and L=22 with Photo Black. As I
don't have any problems with the Matte black prints, if I handle the
prints with normal care, I can't find any reason to use the Photo Black
ink set.
Best
Stefan
