Roberto,
Did you try exporting to PDF instead of printing?

You can generate the drop shadow in InDesign, then export to PDF. Open the PDF, delete what you don't want, crop and save as PDF. Then reimport the resulting drop shadow into InDesign. It maintains the transparency. Then you can export the new layout to PDF. I'll test it on my RIP, but I think it'll work.
