Hi Kevin,
I would suggest you take a look at:

http://www.icctools.com/driftview.html

I think you can test this app. out to see if it fits your needs.
Your first question, is dealt with by the parameters you set as default.
The second question; you measure some patches of CMYK and compare
them with previous measurements. You can see a graphical comparison
(from memory, linear and block representations). Your third question is
probably best answered by the team at icctools.
