I've read the recent postings about iphoto being color-managed, but I
seem to be having more of a gamma issue with it when playing slide
shows or viewing an image in edit mode.
With my monitor calibrated to 2.2 here is what happens:
If I have a group of images in the "organize" mode, the mode that looks
like a contact sheet, and they look fine. But when I view an image in
Edit mode to see it large it appears too dark. It doesn't matter what
profile is embedded from Photoshop. I send the same image converted to
sRGB, Colormatch, and Adobe RGB, and placed them into iPhoto. The
images all appear the same, so yes iPhoto is reading the profile and
applying color color transformations. They do look the same, and fine
in organize mode, but when viewed in edit mode or in slide show mode,
they appear too dark.
If I re-calibrate to gamma 1.8 everything looks fine in all modes and
all the images sRGB, ColorMatch, AdobeRGB now match how the image looks
in photoshop.
Does iPhoto just not work with a monitor calibrated to a 2.2 gamma?
This is with iPhoto 4.03, OS 10.3.5 running an Apple Cinema Display 23"
aluminum calibrated with ColorEyes Display 3.0 and an Eye-one Pro.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
