I've read the recent postings about iphoto being color-managed, but I
seem to be having more of a gamma issue with it when playing slide
shows or viewing an image in edit mode.
With my monitor calibrated to 2.2 here is what happens:
If I have a group of images in the "organize" mode, the mode that
looks like a contact sheet, and they look fine. But when I view an
image in Edit mode to see it large it appears too dark. It doesn't
matter what profile is embedded from Photoshop. I send the same image
converted to sRGB, Colormatch, and Adobe RGB, and placed them into
iPhoto. The images all appear the same, so yes iPhoto is reading the
profile and applying color color transformations. They do look the
same, and fine in organize mode, but when viewed in edit mode or in
slide show mode, they appear too dark.
I'm guessing here, but perhaps in those modes iPhoto is using Generic
RGB as the destination profile, and not the Display profile like it
should. This is how Keynote works which is why it's useless for taking
advantage of custom projector profiles using Gretag Macbeth's Beamer.
