Paul: SCR 3340 is an ExpressCard/54 which will not work or fit
inside the ExpressCard/34 slot.

Oddly, Apple never had an ExpressCard/54 slot... it was a PCMCIA Slot.
Physical insertion of your Smart Card inside your laptop is not the
best of conditions, since the card / reader typically stick out.
There are other technical means that are more elegant and more Apple-
like.

The disadvantage to the express card format is the reader now
sticks out of
the computer by approximately 50-55 mm.

also check out http://www.expresscard.org for other kinds of cards
or google scr3340
One price is $69 USD. Envoy data sells one too.

The *real* question is what to do on the new MacBook Pros; I don't
know of any card reader that will work in an ExpressCard/34 slot.
Apple *really* should have stuck with /54.
