Hi
I've installed the first released beta and apart from some youth defaults (localization) I am satisfied with it.
I had to tweak a lot to let Matlab run on X11 instead of OroborOSX and I still have some problems with fink-installed apps, but I'm
getting accustomed to the problem.
My question is about the update to the new beta (0.2). I have read that this new version replaces /etc/X11 and uses quartz-wm
instead. Not that I understand a bit of this. I just want to make sure that this doesn't ruin my actual (working!) config.
I am currently working on a thesis, using LaTeX on Mac OSX and I desperatly need X11 to be working (Matlab and XFig), so the update
would be interesting if it solves some stability, usability and localization problems (the common crip-crap with z and y, and the
special characters), but not if it implies that I must tweak the settings again in order for it to work properly.
Is the update process smooth? Does it simply replace the old app with a new one and everything works fine? Or does it install a
second one? Can it bake toasts?
Thanks,
Thomas
