AFAICT, Fink in general doesn't care about this version number, although
it shows it as version of a virtual package. It is only one package that
really uses this, and in fact a dummy package that installs nothing but
symlinks. It simply wants to make sure that Leopard's X11 is really
present, but it could perhaps find a more robust way to test this.
I remember the days when Apple's X11 did not support `X -version`, and
the only way to extract a version number from anywhere in the X11
installation was to parse some of the man pages...
