Hello
I'm running X11 (XQuartx 2.3.3.1 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple42) on OS X
10.5.7 on Quad-Core Intel Xeon.
I connect to X11 remotely by
1. Open an Xterm
2. ssh -X to another box
3. run an application (vmware) on the box and connect to the X server.
Run vmware on what box? Are you trying to run vmware workstation on a
linux box? Your step '3' is ambiguous because you say "the box" but
there is more than one box in your setup.
Typically the application runs for many minutes or hours, and then
loses connectivity with the X Server.
Are you talking about an application running within vmware, or vmware
itself?
At that point, the only recovery that I'm aware of is to restart the
X server and the application.
Is your computer going to sleep at all? What is the output of running
'xdpyinfo' on the remote server? Is your network connection active?
Can you run xterm locally at this point?
This sounds to me like a networking issue... not an X11 issue...
The system.log you provided looks like normal behavior.
You say this is a problem with frequent "crashes" ... but there is no
crash here.
