I must confess that I haven't made the switch to CVS or
Subversion, either. I got spoiled by a less kludgey source
code library system, better integrated with the IDE and
particularly with the text editor, a couple decades ago.
The broken bones in the current ones stick out all over the
place, and are far too easy to trip over, hence all of the
mentions of needing to scrap and rebuild repositories.
Another couple layers of version numbers would help, as
would a more graphical interface to choosing/working with
branches and older versions. The mechanism to check out
code to work on it and submit new and changed code, and
check-in after code review, leaves a lot to be desired, as
does the lack of encapsulation of the repository (allowing
the files to be accessed and clobbered without using the tools).
