Why is the cable modem plugged into the uplink port?
If it is supposed to be, be sure nothing is in its sister port, ie the one
it steals the bandwith from to be an uplink port. Usually it is the port
next to it or it is the last port of the hub.
I have found that if a 8 port hub has 8 people on it and you uplink to
another hub, you get lots of collisions.
Also, please be sure your desktop is not set to Remote Only in the
Appletalk setup.
If that doesn't work, try playing in you TCP/IP setting.
only my thoughts.
