AppleScript dictionary...
Hmm. That is weird. 'Do script' was there in Photoshop 5.0.2, and it's still
there in 6.0.1, so it should also be a part of your version 5.5.
I have noticed that Script Editor seems unhappy if any attempt is made to
open or edit a script containing commands directed at Photoshop without
first launching the app*. Script Editor played dumb for a full minute when I
tried this, and when the script did open, the command 'do script' was
replaced by '<<event miscdosc>>'. Attempting to edit & recompile the script
produced an error message stating that Script Editor could not read the
application's dictionary. Launching Photoshop first made everything right
again, though.
The absence of a 'do script' command in your Photoshop Applescript
dictionary is passing strange. Does this mean you just have the 'open'
command, or what? Perhaps it's worth reinstalling Photoshop and rebuilding
your desktop. Who knows...
And there's something else that's rather odd - when I dropped Photoshop onto
the Script Editor's icon in order to check it's dictionary, I got an alert
while Photoshop was launching telling me PhotoTools had detected that I was
running a version of Photoshop older than version 3.0.4, which is manifestly
not the case. I've no idea what that's all about.
All I can say is, good luck with sorting out your problem, and sorry that I
can't offer more in the way of help.
*Note - A while back on this list I was told in no uncertain terms that
attempting to write or edit scripts directed at a specific application
without first launching the app was the act of a lowly fool, so I don't do
that any more.
Regards
Mr Tea
