Steve, are you reading this??
I truely feel Sal has his hand full. We have to understand the "culture" of
Apple is not anything like it used to be with, say 5 years ago. A state of
Flux?
Today, with the NeXT programmers being right next door, it's no wonder Sal
(and others too) have a lot of PR to accomplish - squarely within the
Developers Group. These guys know unix, linux, perl and cgi (amoung other
languages), hence, no motivation to getting Applescript into the core
operating system, ... at least initially.
...
I say we stand up and shout loud. It's a hell of a long way to Cupertino -

Look, I really appreciate the versatility of unix and all its posix
relatives. All the other "scripting" and non scripting languages that
we often associate with unix, they are also really nice. However, I
do not know of any other language that could do what AS does.
tell excel to get cell 1 then tell fm pro to put that value in that
database, furthermore, get that other pict from FM and past it to
Quark, together with the text from that doc of AppleWorks, mix it
well, put it in Photoshop, get that cool gif from that url, make
everything into a web page, and ask fetch politely to put everything
into my site.
Oh! Please create a log file sort the files and tell app Finder,
thank you very much...
Long live AppleScript!
