Steve, are you reading this??
I truely feel Sal has his hand full. We have to understand the "culture" of
Apple is not anything like it used to be with, say 5 years ago. A state of
Flux?
Today, with the NeXT programmers being right next door, it's no wonder Sal
(and others too) have a lot of PR to accomplish - squarely within the
Developers Group. These guys know unix, linux, perl and cgi (amoung other
languages), hence, no motivation to getting Applescript into the core
operating system, ... at least initially.
In my humble opinion, if the former is allowed to happen, I feel this will
set Applescript back to the Stone Age. It doesn't take a rocketbrain to
figure out Apple can't stand many more of these "snafoos".
I am not suggesting we should badger Apple at all. If we can come together
and challenge Apple in a positive way, we *can* make a difference. What is
important is that whatever is said be directed towards the right people
within the developers group at Apple - Not Sal. Applescript itself is doing
very well, all things considered.
I say we stand up and shout loud. It's a hell of a long way to Cupertino -
Ray
