I bit the bullet and purchased the Adobe Acrobat application. PDFs
are created by a printer driver, from any application. Terribly
convenient.

EXCEPT that on Windows, when you have both Acrobat and Microsoft Office installed, you can get BETTER PDF's generated from Office!
