An interesting example is Microsoft Excel (imaginary trademark symbol,

You may have noticed that Microsoft often refers to Word, and to
PowerPoint, but never to a "naked" Excel.

That's the result of a legal settlement back when the Microsoft Excel name
was created, in a case brought by the supplier of something named Excel.
Basically, MS agreed never to say "Excel" without preceding it with
"MicroSoft", and the other guys were satisfied (or elected to be satisfied).
