The integration of AS with control of the terminal in OS X is going to definitely open some eyes.
It already has in a lot of arenas. I've spoken with several UNIX programmers who are impressed
with Apple's ability to succeed where many have failed, in bringing UNIX to the desktop.
AS control of UNIX with seamless application integration and multi_OSA_language co-compiling
(i.e. JAVA, PERL, VB etc.) opens lots of doors to cross-platform application integration as well.
There is no doubt that the future holds great possibilities, but the close-mindedness of the
microsofties prevents them from understanding what is actually happening. They can't see that
the server market is still dominated by UNIX and that MS is not really going to be an adequate
replacement in many Enterprises. The MS Jihad against the Mac has raged for a decade and
the "smile on the face, knife in the back" has been experienced by enough MS competitors to
finally get a conviction.
To be fair, MS has not singled out the Mac, they are an equal opportunity perpetrator.
But the languishing of the Mac cannot be entirely blamed on external forces. There have been
plenty of poor choices made by Apple, just look at all the failed technology that has fallen on
the wayside over the past 5 years. Even AppleTalk is going away.
There is a long way to go, but AS integration with
UNIX is going to be a big hit. Believe it.

This is why AppleScript is your secret weapon. Others are afraid of it, but it sets you free once you harness its power.

And next, domination of the universe, because the world is not enough.

Hey, we could make a movie out of that...
