Are you perhaps referring to PageMaker scripting? That's a whole different beast. PageMaker has its own scripting language and you send it DoScript commands with strings for it to execute. It's not really AppleScript, even though it's wrapped in AppleScript.
Beyond that, we'd need some specific problem to help with. Of course, I don't know anyone who really scripts PageMaker, so expert questions will probably go unanswered. :(
