Reality Check (Was... I lost count)

Comment #1 - I already have an incredibly powerful easy-to-learn
scripting (AppleScript) that I'm very happy with.

Comment #2 - AppleScript is *not* an easy language to learn (IMO) -
especially for people new to programming/scripting.

Comment #3 - Aside from the three language guides available from Apple
there are, I believe, books available on the AppleScript language as well
as numerous resources freely available on the web.

Comment #4 - Object model consistency from app to app is lacking. Clear
examples for app scripting are conspicuously absent from most app's
documentation.

My perspective (FWIW) - Somebody needs to do a reality check... I have
"Lurked" on this list for a week, sent one request for sample scripts to
examine (none offered), downloaded 3 or 4 Scripting "Tomes" totaling
about 900 pages of PDF files as well as every sample script I ran into
hoping to grasp the bare necessities of scripting on the Mac to simplify
several large projects. I was able to Print a document this morning (Yay)
although I still get an error regarding some Apple Event timing out.

I've been doing DTP for about 12 years on a Mac, so computers in general
are no mystery to me and Apple products especially. Perhaps its just
information overload, but, I still haven't been able to determine how AS
Scripts and PM Scripts interact and/or can be used together. I've always
learned by doing (and fairly quickly usually) but this stuff is beyond
your average user's abilities (IMHO).
