Eject Empty SCSI CD Drive Tray

I'd like to have my script open the tray on a PPC 9600 internal SCSI CD ROM,
but I can't figure out how to do it.... I want to do it as part of a
media-request where there is no CD mounted on the desktop to eject.

I haven't got the OS 9.2 installer, but I have the 9.2.1 update, which does
not seem to have the eject-script that is such a talked about feature of OS
9.2. It looks as though the eject script in 9.2 will open a CD tray if there
is no media mounted.

How does the 9.2 eject script work? Is there any other way to pop out an
empty CD tray via Applescript?

Thanks for your help.
