Everything else appears to be in order. (See comments below.)

I see that an item called "MonitorDepth" is included in the Apple

Scripts folder. I am now using SwitchRes to use a different monitor

Also, I have 1.3.6 not 1.3.7.
No you don't. According to your list of AS related extensions. You're
running version 1.1 (see above)

OS 8.6 installed the read me v1.3.6, however it's probably just an oversight
on Apple's part. No big deal.

But the get info ion the script editor says it is system 8.5, version

Perhaps downloading the 8.6 updater and using the "Tome viewer"

Script Editor v1.1.3 is the correct version. SE's version has nothing to do
with your problem. I'll reiterate. You problem is that you are running
Applescript v1.1 (Extension) You really need to get v1.3.7

Thanks, lb
The complete 8.6 package is _only_ an updater. You'll probably have to grab
it from Apple's download site, although it may be easier to use an FTP
program. Use this server:
ftp.apple.com
and this directory:
/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/
... and navigate from there.
If you don't have Tome Viewer, start here:
http://macfixit.pair.com/library/r-z.shtml
Just off chance, and I know this is a long shot...You mentioned in you're
original post that you bought the machine with 8.5 already installed and
then d/l and ran the 8.6 updater. I'm curious as to why it didn't update
your applescript extension. Hmmm? Do you have an disabled extensions folder
in your System Folder? If so, I would check there first to see if it
contains the appropriate AppleScript extension file.
Best of Luck!
