The one thing I can think of is that applets are nicer to other
processes than Script Editor is -- that is, they allow a bit more time
for other applications -- but this is regarded as a bug in Script
Editor, because it leads to things like "delay" sucking up most of the
CPU when you run it in Script Editor.
