If you open Stuffit Expander's dictionary in Script Editor (or similar) and
click on the 'Expansion Suite' heading in the left panel, you should see
something very much like this:
Expansion Suite: Events to expand files
Expand: Expand the specified list of documents/folders/disks
Expand a list of alias -- List of documents/folders/disks to Expand
[Delete Original boolean] -- Should the files be deleted after
they are expanded?
[Destination alias] -- Alternate destination for the files
Result: integer -- Returns the number of files that were successfully
expanded.
If you have Stuffit Deluxe, a much more full-featured dictionary is
available, and for OSes 7-9 there is also Leonard Rosenthol's 'Stuffit
Commands' osax, which extends the scriptability of the basic stuffit package
by a considerable degree. Downloadable from
http://www.lazerware.com/software.html
Incidentally, there's a bug in OS X versions of AS that makes all dictionary
windows blank if the default dictionary window size is reset to within
certain parameters. Zooming & unzooming the window reveals the dictionary
contents in that case.
