When you are getting the list with the Finder, you can access the 'name' of
the file (full name including any extension), the 'displayed name' (with or
without extension according to user settings), the 'name extension' (whether
displayed in the Finder or not), and the 'extension hidden' property (a
boolean).
There must surely be something here that will enable you to match up Finder
gernerated lists with the 'list folder' versions.
