Are your Finder preferences set to "Always show file extension"? I am able to get a list of files with extensions and I have this preference checked.

There may be an issue when it comes time to move or rename the files. I frequently get an error -43, File not found, when I try to manipulate a file in my list. Interesting enough the error message shows that the Finder is trying to address a file without it's extension. The list always has the right information however, when I pass that information to a delete or name command it occasionally gets truncated.
