At 5:09 PM +0100 3/8/02, I wrote:
With the notice and notify events you can tell Eudora to notify an
application when mail arrives. However Steve and co were not able
to get the syntax right in their scripts and gave up trying to get
any sense out of the Applescript people at Apple. I sweated away
with it and eventually discovered a trick to get things working.
You should get the answer at

Let me know how you get on. I haven't looked at it for a couple of
years by the look of it.
After posting this I had a go with Eudora 5 versions and it didn't
work. Apparently the notify event got mangled when the app was
carbonized. I'm glad to say this has now been fixed after fraught
exchanges with the powers that be but there's no point experimenting
with notification in 5.1.1 and you either wait for the next release
or practise on older versions.
