BTW, there's a really nifty "Character Palette" in "Input menu" tab of
International System Prefs, with a wealth of stuff including the Unicode
number of every character there. It has Japanese, Chinese, Cyrillic, even
"Accented Latin", depending, I think, partly on which other scripts you
choose for Input menu (formerly Keyboard Menu). It's not exactly complete -
it has "Ornamental Punctuation" but not regular curly quotes, for example,
but it's lots of fun.
