BTW, there's a really nifty "Character Palette" in "Input menu" tab of
International System Prefs, with a wealth of stuff including the Unicode
number of every character there. It has Japanese, Chinese, Cyrillic, even
"Accented Latin", depending, I think, partly on which other scripts you
choose for Input menu (formerly Keyboard Menu). It's not exactly complete -
it has "Ornamental Punctuation" but not regular curly quotes, for example,
but it's lots of fun.
But does it allow you to add your own keyboards manually and have
they got Keycaps for Unicode keyboards working properly? I ask
because I've just installed a Unicode Keyboard I've written for
polytonic Greek in 10.1.5 and it was not much fun because it has to
be done through the shell using Rez and the Terminal seems to
understand different things when you're root than when you're not.
The good news, however, is that it works.
Now all we need is for someone to write an osax to add resources to
the new-style files. I tried using Satimage for this job but it
works only with the old-style resource forks. Ah well, my jag-wire
should arrive tomorrow, so lots of fun ahead!
