Howdy,
I've noticed that with at least a couple of apps, when scripts are
run from the application's script menu, the script does not retain
properties. Is this the fault of the application or is it something
deeper? One of the apps in question is Eudora.
I'm seeing this on OS X but it might also apply to pre-OS X systems
as well. Does anyone have insight on this issue?
It's never happened in Entourage.
Are you using Data Fork scripts (SE 1.9) or Resource Fork scripts?
In Script Debugger, the choices are "Compiled Script" and "Compiled
Script (Data Fork)". My scripts are saved as "Compiled Script". I'll
try the data fork option.
It didn't make a difference. I guess I'll just write the properties
to a file and read them back into the script on each execution.
Bummer.
I wonder if this can be overcome by the developer of the application
with the script menu. I encountered the issue while scripting a beta
version of an application that is about to be released and the
developer is very attentive to scripting issues. If there's something
that he can do to fix it, he'd probably be willing to do it.
