scripting additions folder on X is readonly?

  • Subject: scripting additions folder on X is readonly?

Hi Folks,

Just looking into adding some scripting additions and on my machine my ScriptingAdditions folder is owned by root and I can't drag the files into there.

I can't imagine any reason why you would not want to be able to write to the scripting additions folder, so I'm hoping that it's just something odd with my system.

If this is the way the system is normally setup then any scripting addition that under 9 would have been a drag and drop install would require an installer and admin password. Seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Is everyone's ScriptingAdditions folder read only?

Thanks!
James
