Problems with "load script" revisited

  • Subject: Problems with "load script" revisited

Hi all,

my experiments with "load script" and "store script" seem to lead nowhere. Strange crashes occur and "load Script" is sometimes simply loading unusable data... I believe it has something to do with Unicode texts in the objects I store, but this is just a guess.

[whine]
In situations like this I really would do a lot for a public bug list: is it me that's crazy or AppleScript... and these deadlines keep flying by without having a clue what's going on...
[end whine]

Saving and reloading my state info works like a charm using Akuas "the preference" and "save preference" events. Only Problem: I want to save my states as independent files. And I don't want use OSAXen.

So I wondered whether the read/write Standard Additions work for me. And so far they actually do what I ask them to: they read and write records! But I think I just recently read something this list, recommending against using just this feature... and can't find it.

So, if there's a problem: in which situations does read/write fail to correctly deal with records? What bugs are known?

Or can I safely continue on my way to meeting my deadline?

TIA,

Helmut

(All above using AppleScript 1.6 on MacOS 9.1 on a PowerBook G3)
