One suggestion under 8.6:

Use QuicKeys to trigger the quit sequence(s) in FoxPro, and use AppleScript
to trigger the QuicKeys sequence.

What happens if you set energy saver to shut down at a specific time while
FoxPro is running? Will it accept the event quit from the finder?
