Unless I'm wrong, TID is a global variable created when an AppleScript "session" is "opened" (wathever way such a session gets opened).
And that global variable is given a default value, in the sense that it receives a value when created.

This is more like an "initial" value (or, we'd rather drop the word "initial" once for all).

We programmers prefer to use the "default" term to refer to some value which is provided automatically if the user does not provide one, like in "beep n" where n's default value is 1. Such is not the case here: TID's always have some value.
