I discovered some additional information that may give someone an idea
what
is going on with the "store script" command. I found that if I log
out and
then log back in, the script works from the Script Menu (and even when
launched from QuicKeys). However, the script will then not update the
destination on the "store script" command when run from Apple's Script
Editor.
If I log out and then log in again, I can once more get the script to
update
properly running from the Script Editor, but then running from the
Script
Menu (or launching from QuicKeys) no longer works. So the first
approach I
use after logging in (either from the Script Editor or from Script
Menu)
seems to be the only one that updates the destination file on the
"store
script" command until a new log in occurs.
Script Menu is the culprit, with an assist from Standard Additions. It
appears that the store script command doesn't properly close the file.
With Script Editor, the file gets closed when it quits. But whatever
runs script menu (loginwindow?) doesn't quit until you log out. I had
though killing SystemUIServer would do it, but no such luck.
There's no error message telling you that store script has failed to
open the file and store the script (because it's already open elsewhere
for writing), but you probably shouldn't expect that from something
that doesn't bother to properly close the file in the first place.
Really makes one wonder...
