Way back in 1993 or 1994, a well-known set of applets and scripts was
distributed widely, and it caused exactly this problem.
It still happens - even in OS X. Every once in a while, as I perform
my ScriptBuilders duties, I run into a script whose icon takes over
as the default icon for AppleScript applets. It doesn't appear to
cause any harm but it's very annoying (and alarming until I figure
out what has happened). :-)
