The problem is that Apple has set the list headers so that if you simply hit reply, type, and send, it goes to the original poster, not the list.
Many of my replies to questions end up going that way, unless I deliberately remember to hit "Reply All" in which case you will get two copies of the message. One to you and one to the list.
I know the list managers believe they have valid reasons for setting things up this way, but I personally think it's a royal PITA. Virtually all the rest of the lists I sub to have Reply To set to the list.
This has been debated here before, and I don't intend to start another round, but it is one answer to your question.
