I don't like the use of "OF" in there, no matter
what OS or FM version...

Why not simply...

count windows

count every window

Without a tell block or application reference. run it in the
scriptmaker. I'm not having a hard go at moving to 10 and
have some very complex stuff using piles of AS. Watch your
event log and see what the syntax looks like coming out of it.
Follow that as closely as possible, try to replace your variety
of syntax with the syntax in the event log as much as possible.
Not only will FM run faster but your difficulties in OSX should
diminish somewhat. HTH & Good Luck.
