Hmm. If you check the FileMaker Pro AppleEvents reference database you'll find an example which uses this construct.

Why not simply...

count windows

count every window

I have tried these. These fail too.

FWIW, I've heard back from a FileMaker Inc representative that it doesn't work and they can't explain it. Sounds like something broke with 10.2. Nonetheless, I have reported this via the FileMaker feedback form posted by someone to the list.
