What do you mean "AS 1.7"? AppleScript 1.7 never existed in OS X. On OS
10.1.5 you have either AS 1.8.1 or 1.8.3. It could be you have Script Editor
1.7 with AS 1.8.1.

Now I'm really confused. Which application would that be? Script Editor? You
can't be referring to an application made by AppleScript Studio, which is
v1.1 in OS 10.1.5 if you had the Developer Tools Dec 2001.

Developer Disk program? What's that?

I think you'd better tell us what exactly you're talking about. If it's
script editor, go to Software Update and update to AppleScript 1.8.3, which
will include a new Script Editor. If it's no longer available there, go to
the Apple Software site and download it (1.8.3 for OS X of course, not OS
9).
