1 item returned, in which case it would error. This is still the case
for me under AS 1.9.
"as alias list" has never worked under OS X. It keeps returning finder
reference lists (e.g.{folder "Applications" of startup disk of
application "Finder", folder "Library" of startup disk of application
"Finder"})
