That's because I'm a total ignorant about that *and* I know I am.
Should this mean that you never encounter problems with the display of
messages containing accented characters, especially messages in html
format with an iso-8859 or a Windows charset?
If your answer is a sound 'no', I guess we then should have to try to

OK, we've got the OT flag, so I'll tell you.
- from some of my PC pals, I receive mails that display all right
- from some of my PC pals, I receive mails where the (lower case)
eacute comes as an (upper case) egrave. Such mails are fixed by the
Satimage osax/Smile "convert to mac" (or "converttext") commands -
that I have brilliantly installed in Eudora's Scripts menu.
- sometimes I receive what I call html mails, where the (lower case)
eacute comes as a slash, and when I click "BLAH BLAH BLAH" I get a
full html source, with the source displaying correctly all accented
letters

(before "enregistrer" there is an a-grave)
