Such mails can be fixed resplendently in Eudora versions 1.5 onwards
by installing a plug-in table to do the job and running the script
set transliteration table of message "" to 1234 -- id of the table
Before that one had the inconvenience of having to do it from a
pop-up menu in the message window :-)
