Any other options for those who have (happily) deleted Classic from their

You can open a Hypercard stack with TextEdit, and read the contents (which will include the text of buttons, the scripts themselves, and the texts in text fields of cards).

You can also drop in on Smile or Script Editor and read an Applescript dictionary from an Apple product that puts the others to shame. I took my first steps in Scripting in Hypercard in 1980s and Applescript was a bit of a comedown after than -- and remains so.

I'm definitely of the same opinion.
I can't believe it would be an unmanageable task to port HC to MacOS 10.
HC was a so masterful piece of code that it managed to be compatible with lots of successive OS incarnations (from 6.someting up to 9.2.2) without needing any revision; it's strength resided (more exactly, resides) into its concepts and their implementation, and not into fallacious asumptions about what the OS could manage to do for it.
Or am I missing something somewhere?
Anyway, should there be a project to revive HC (the true one, that from Atkinson/Apple), I would be happy to contribute, even for an infinitesimal part: it was (is) a too nice thing in the right direction, even if it could be thought about better but yet inexistent things.

There's a simple magic message that unlocks the program and allows you to script it. If anyone can remind me of it, I'd be very grateful -- I still have HC 2.1 unlocked, but it would be great to have 2.4.1 unlocked and with the aete into the bargain.

I have to confess I tried to do the same thing when I came to learn, too late, that HC wasn't supported anymore.
Without success :-(
