Just be warned that the Finder Zip creates very weird archives, and unless
they are unzipped by the Panther Finder on the other end, you *will* have
problems.
If you're going to use shell, you should probably consider gzip, it's just
as good, and doesn't create wonky archives.
Or for non-wonky Zip archives, I just found out that ZipIt
(shareware) has been updated for OS X:
