If you are using Apple's beta GUI Scripting software introduced a while ago,

Yep.
Mac OS X 10.2.4 includes a new version of System Events, version 1.1.2.
However, it is NOT installed by the Mac OS X 10.2.4 installer if you have
installed the new System Events 2.0 beta and your old System Events app was
renamed as described above.
On my Mac, which was the recipient of the beta System Events prior to
the 10.2.4 update, I now have System Events 1.1.1 and System Events
(Get Info indicates v1.2). A search revealed no other instances of
System Events, indicating that the beta has been overwritten or
deleted. System Events 1.2 appears to include the GUI scripting
terminology that was available in the beta.
I wonder why we see different results after updating.
