Is there a way to create a virtual printer to trick the system? I wonder what would happen if a wireless printer was detected (I can't test this).

This is one way, and I had this working on a previous installation

<http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2f04e.htm>

but I now reach a dead end at Adobe when I try to follow the links given.

I think you'll probably succeed with this:

<ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/mac/all/ppdfiles/adobe.sit.hqx>

The readme tells you what to do with the PPD files.

Otherwise there are other methods that you can easily discover with a google search for

"os x" "virtual printer"
