I imagine that the fact that just about anything can be done already through
"do shell script" plays a big role. Of course there are downsides. The call
itself adds a little overhead, and you need to learn some unix. But if you're
using Mac OS X there are more reasons to learn about its unix aspects anyway,
plus do shell script offers more portablility than relying on third-party
Scripting Additions.
