This is deliberate. It has always been so.
Yep. Go ahead and file a bug asking for a "don't create" parameter
of some sort, if you like.
Who? What?? What bug? If 'path to "asup"' didn't create the folder
(since at least OS 7.6) I can see quite a lot of things breaking.
