FaceSpan?

  • Subject: FaceSpan?

I have a copy of FaceSpan 1.01 that shipped with the AppleScript package
I got from Apple way back when. The manual is an Apple branded manual and
the disks are Apple disks. I notice that Apple no longer carries it and
that FaceSpan's web site is up to version 4. I don't have the $$$ to buy
it, especially since the old version seems to work OK with AppleScript
1.8.3 on OS 9.2.1.

The reason I dug it out is because I need to develop a project that is
going to need more than "display dialog"... a first for me. The book is
pretty thick and it looks like there is going to be a learning curve.
Before jumping in, I wonder if someone would be kind enough to comment on

- Is FaceSpan the "in" thing to use, or has it been superceded by some
other (hopefully free) project developer/manager?

- Is there anything in the current FaceSpan version that I really, really
need to have? And if so, is it backward compatible with what I have?

Thanks for your help.

Steve
